Goodreads Archive Review: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

VAMPIRE ACADEMY
VAMPIRE ACADEMY #1
Author: Richelle Mead
Publication Date: 08/16/2007
Audience: Young Adult
Genre: Paranormal, Fantasy, Romance

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

REVIEW

I'm very 'Meh' about this one. I don't really hate it but I don't really feel the pull to read the next book. I don't know if it is because I didn't read it when it first came out so by this point vampires are way over done or if I never would have liked it.

The writing. Average.
The characters. Average.
The romance. Lacking.
In a word this book was boring.

Sorry to all the VA fans out there but I just wasn't feeling it. I'll probably just wait and *gasp* watch the movies. Lame.
