Probably, I'll have to try another one. It seems there's a mix with this one, but the whole not knowing what pretence you're in would annoy me, too. The whole thing which I know when I'm going to enjoy a book is the interactions with the characters, I can never get into it if they sound forced, or that there's just...nothing there, which seems not to be the case with it.
